Ivy League University is seeking a Windows Consultant perform day-to-day administration and support for 800+ Windows servers.  This infrastructure supports email, web, administrative, and other applications, including automation, processes, hardware and software. Systems include Windows 2008, 2012, and Active Directory among others in a virtualized VMware environment.
 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Performs System Administration for a large Windows Active Directory environment.
  • Under minimal direction, installs, tests, implements and maintains Windows servers and software configurations.
  • Installs moderate/complex impact upgrades, patches and fixes to moderate/high impact environments or customers with high visibility.
  • Takes calls from Client Support Services, end users, developers, operations staff, or automated tools regarding availability, performance or functionality problems.
  • Uses vendor support/internal staff to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems
  • Monitors, analyzes and makes recommendations to improve system and software performance to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of both upgrades and new installations of hardware and software.
  • Does assigned research, design and development; these activities may be time sensitive (low flexibility) and impact multiple visible user groups.
  • Works with vendors directly on customization and implementation work.
  • Contributes to the defining of hard/software configurations to address University needs.
  • Consults to senior customer/ management on project design and development scope (complex).
  • Assists customer organizations with planning and implementing complex configurations.
  • Identifies and documents basic/moderate infrastructure requirements.
  • May act as an individual contributor/consultant on a-wide infrastructure and integration issues complex and multi-platform in nature.
  • Provides project management and/or technical consulting on moderately complex projects.
  • Participates in 24 hour on-call rotation for problem resolution and weekend upgrade work when required.
  • All other duties as assigned.
 
Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required.
Minimum 4-6 years related experience.
