Manager of Application Development and Support

Our client is a non-profit organization seeking a Manager of Application Development and Support to oversee and be accountable for the success of all the projects under their supervision, and provide exceptional service in support of existing applications and the organization's website.  The Manager will take ownership of the website and be the technical lead regarding new development and enhancement of front end technology.  The Application Development and Support Manager plans, executes, and delivers all projects on time, on budget and within scope in accordance with the business priorities. Strong technical and hands-on skills combined with people and project management skills are important for the Application Development and Support Manager to manage the development team and track project status while mitigating issues and risks.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Build, lead, and coach multiple projects throughout project lifecycles.
  • Take responsibility for the quality of the delivered solution and ensure all projects meet success parameters and meet the requirements of the business case.
  • Partner with business sponsors and product owners to define success metrics and criteria.
  • Champion software development best practices like continuous integration, automated testing, automated build and deploy.
  • Assess and resolve all high priority project risks as they are encountered.
  • Continually update relevant business stakeholders of project status.
  • Partner with other managers in IT like the Enterprise Application Manager and IT Operations and Support Manager to ensure the solutions meet the organizational standards and in the choice of third party tools, frameworks and services.
  • Ensure projects adhere to Agile project methodology and facilitate all operation checkpoint activities throughout their lifecycle.
  • Work closely with the Senior Developer to manage team resources on current and upcoming projects and support of existing services
  • Take ownership of our organization's website performance and function.
  • Manage relationships with outsourced resources and vendors
 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
 
  • 5+ years' experience as a hands-on technology lead with an applications/web development background.
 
  • Enthusiasm for solving problems, digging into issues and owning solutions to completion
 
  • Desire for continuous improvement of process and technical practices
 
  • Microsoft .NET development stack including SQL Server with strong front-end development focus
 
  • Management experience required including training, coaching, mentoring, monitoring and providing feedback to direct/indirect reports and participating in recruiting and selection decisions.
 
  • Availability outside core hours for project implementations and in the event of unexpected service interruptions
 
 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Experience working with Aptify Association Management System.
  • Experience working with Sitefinity Content Management Systems and IIS administration
  • Automation experience with tools such as Selenium, Sauce Labs, or unit test frameworks for automated testing.
  • TFS, GIT project/build administration.
 
 
TECHNICAL SKILLS
 
  • Strong design background with a focus on development of APIs.
  • Knowledge of software architecture for scalable, fully responsive, and highly available websites.
  • Good working knowledge in programming languages like ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, Javascript, SQL, etc.
  • Skilled in HTML, CSS, Ajax/jQuery, SASS.
  • Adept at iterative software development methodologies (Scrum).
