Network Engineer

  • Have knowledge of products and services relevant for role
  • Support 24X7 engineer on-call requirements
  • Ensure all elements of the network are functioning at an optimal performance level
  • Provide a single point of interface to internal and external clients on issues pertaining to our MPLS, Internet, VoIP, and other Managed Services
  • Identify customer technical problems and suitable solutions to resolve issues
  • Responsible for network management systems and facilities management (including new and MACD port builds)
  • Responsible for event and incident management
  • Responsible for problem management and RFO management
  • Responsible for service measurement, performance and reporting
  • Exhibit leadership and expertise of technical staff
  • Responsible for network/service architecture and operations
  • Responsible for alarm structure and correlation
  • Responsible for network/service quality metrics
  • ITIL - Service Operations
  • Vigilantly execute work and meet quality, productivity, turnaround time and other expectations
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement to ensure high level of customer satisfaction and to reduce disconnects
  • Maintain professional and technical up-to-date knowledge by reading periodicals and attending job-related seminars/courses
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the continued success of self, team, department, and company

  • Bachelor's degree required in a technical discipline (Network Engineering, Computer Networking or related field) and four (4) years of relevant experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years in a network engineering role
  • Strong technical expertise with three (3) years of hands-on experience in networking technologies with a particular subject expertise in applications networking, IP network hardware, routing protocols, high availability network monitoring, network security, and VoIP
  • Proven ability to develop and execute best practices
  • Strong communication, organizational, and trouble-shooting skills
  • Proficient with MPLS, VPN, Layer 2/3, and Point-to-Point networks
  • Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting VOIP protocols (SIP, MGCP, Skinny, H.323)
  • Proficient in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
  • Knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 Addressing
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications environments and TDM circuits
  • Direct knowledge of Adtran, Cisco, Fortinet, Acme Packet and Broadsoft platforms
  • Ability to simplify and explain technical information to others
  • Has a practical understanding of business
  • Is both an individual contributor and team player
  • Good project management skills
  • Conducts self professionally and ethically
