Informatics Specialist - Oncology

The Clinical Informatics job family is responsible for enhancing clinical practice through the use of clinical systems by partnering with Information Systems to analyze, design, develop and implement informatics tools and technology supporting patient care activities. Clinical Informatics provides analysis of current clinical and business processes and workflows ensuring that information systems meet professional standards, regulations and support management strategies.

Primary Duties:
• May lead teams and/or projects coordinating work activities, reporting on work status and providing input on team performance.
• Leads large-scale technology projects ensuring project vision and direction are aligned with overall objectives.
• Evaluates informatics solutions to ensure they meet quality, efficiency and effectiveness objectives and applies comprehensive testing methodologies to all Clinical Informatics interventions.
• Identifies data issues and risks related to Clinical Informatics activities and provides higher level analysis and feedback in clarifying informatics issues or problems; communicating findings to stakeholders, the interdisciplinary team and governance bodies.
• Utilizes analytical models to identify and evaluate approaches and solutions to information needs.
• Creates business plans including requirements, alternatives, associated costs, ROI, implementation plans and other evaluative measures.
• Actively participates in strategic planning and helps establish priorities based on budget and resource constraints.
• Interprets current legislation, trends and standards and synthesizes existing and emerging standards to apply to organizational practices.

• Applies extensive technical expertise in principle discipline and broad knowledge in related disciplines in revising or developing new methods and procedures.
• High level of understanding of clinical systems architectures. Expert level knowledge of system performance and tuning techniques as well as highly specialized clinical systems.

Provides solutions to highly complex technical problems requiring frequent use of creativity and ingenuity and an in-depth analysis and evaluation of multiple factors.

Education, Experience, Certifications:
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related clinical field with six to eight+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Most Important:
1. Oncology, ideally powerchart oncology
2. 5-8 years inforrmatics experince
-bachelors degree
- clinical background
*Nurse would be ideal
+BMT (bone marrow transplant) would be a plus, as this will be the next initiative

Related certification preferred.
