Risk Data/Business Analyst

Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the DGO U.S. Risk ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
 
The U.S. Risk Data Domain Manager serves as the data governance/management manager and is responsible for the establishment of a data governance program and organizing the “business-as-usual” activities of the data governance function in the data domain. T
 
The incumbent is responsible for working with the Senior Manager to identify the data priorities for the U.S. Risk Data Domain. This will include: identification of the critical business processes, reports and data elements, the identification of the key data priorities, the establishment of data quality rules and measurement, the monitoring of data quality,  identification and prioritization of data quality issues, root cause analysis, and oversight of the remediation of these issues.
 
The incumbent needs to be able to multi-task, communicate well, and manage various work streams relating to Data Management, including externally driven (i.e., regulatory) and/or upstream related initiatives.
 
Accountabilities
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Responsible for executing the Domain’s day-to-day data management activities, including remediating data quality issues in their Domain and implementing change management processes.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining strong data management capabilities e.g.:
  • Developing and maintaining accurate data lineage for critical data (working with IT)
  • Documentation of end-to-end processes, including EUCs and Key Controls
  • Establishment of Service Level Agreements with appropriate data providers
  • Establishment of Data quality measurements and reporting
  • Establishment Issue management process and procedures
  • Developing and maintaining standards related to data quality, issue management, and change management for data that align with bank policies.
  • Work in conjunction with data consumers and Domain stakeholders to establish data quality rules, standards, and thresholds to ensure appropriate data quality monitoring practices are in place.
  • Accountable to ensure that the Domain is in compliance with the U.S. Data Governance Framework and Enterprise Data Management Policy.
  • Lead the identification and root-cause analysis of data quality issues arising through the data chain, from source system to final report.
  • Prioritizing data issues and collaborating with business and technology stakeholders to address and remediate issues in a timely manner based on priority and severity.
  • Tracks and report on data governance program work to milestones and progress.
  • Partnering with technology and the DGO for the delivery of any tools required for data governance operations.
  • Actively tracking regulatory changes and anticipating the impact these will have on the Domain’s data governance and reporting.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)
  • Financial industry experience is required.
  • A recognized under-graduate degree in business, mathematics, computer science, or a related discipline.
  • A recognized post-graduate or master’s degree in business, finance, CFA, and/or FRM would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Compliance standards and best practices, with use of analysis tools for monitoring.
  • Knowledge of the Bank's financial instruments, capital markets, and wholesale operational processes & controls.
  • Knowledge of regulatory/risk reporting.
  • Knowledge of requirements gathering, design methodology, and building test cases - detail oriented, analytical, and capable of investigating complex / technical issues.
  • Able to troubleshoot data related issues and support in the authorization in maintenance and modifications.
  • Good communication / presentation skills (both oral and written).
  • Excellent team player by working with cross-departmental business & IT stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated and committed; capable of working in a dynamic environment with aggressive timelines and multiple work streams running in parallel.
  • Experience with eliciting and provided requirements and design - detail oriented, analytical, and capable of investigating complex / business issue.
