Business Analyst

Position Objective:
The Business Analyst is responsible for performing the business analysis function in any size effort (typically medium-large size) with minimal support and guidance. The primary responsibilities include elicitation, identification and documentation of business needs, the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Client, in both oral and written form, while serving as a liaison across business areas and between business and technical teams. Imperative are an adaptive style and the ability to quickly assimilate new information. These tasks are primarily delivered through a highly iterative approach and use of agile practices, principles and lean thinking.

Key responsibilities include the following:
Create and perform ongoing updates to business cases for the Profit Center using a variety of complementary techniques
Facilitate the rigorous identification and documentation of business requirements by leading business resources through a variety of activities including:
Proactively elicit information through interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, business analysis and workflow analysis
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish business user requests from the underlying business needs to establish minimal viable products and services for clients
Translate business needs into business and functional requirements in a complete, correct and clearly understood format to be shared with both business and technical stakeholders
Coordinate and perform the prioritization, transition and ongoing management of business requirements
Coordinate validation of requirements when necessary
Serve as a liaison across business areas and between business and technical teams
Ongoing development of industry expertise by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies, and applying this knowledge to the job
Practical application and applied (working) knowledge and experience using Agile (Scrum & Kanban) & Waterfall Methodologies
Advanced knowledge and experience in most areas of requirement analysis:
Impact Analysis
Cost Benefit Analysis
Non-Functional Requirement Analysis
Functional Requirement Analysis
Business Rules Analysis
Acceptance and Evaluation Criteria
Advanced knowledge and experience using business analysis techniques including:
Data, process and context modeling
Functional decomposition
Requirement Workshops
Industry and enterprise knowledge including:
Cross-functional business knowledge
Client's strategies, products, processes and systems
Business functions from both an operational and technical perspective
Bachelor's Degree of higher
IIBA accreditation preferred
3 years of experience in Financial Services (Insurance, Commercial/Retail Banking and/or Capital Markets)
3-5 years of experience in a business analyst role or similar experience with the responsibilities listed
Must have Agile knowledge and experience. SAFE Agile framework knowledge/experience is a plus.
