System Administrator / DevOps Engineer

This is a contract to hire opportunity

The Sys Admin/Dev Ops Engineer will be responsible for building, maintaining, and scaling company infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has a background that started with System Administration and evolved to Software Engineering with a passion for writing code. The ability to handle aggressive timelines is a must. The skill to work with multiple teams (Windows/DBA/NetOps) to build automation tools is a must.


Responsibilities:
  • Building and maintaining company's infrastructure in Linux & Windows
  • Monitor and troubleshoot server related issues
  • Collaborate with Systems Administration, DBA, NetOps, DevOps and Development teams
  • Automate server builds/environment setups, automate provisioning access in DB, Linux, Windows
  • Automate security patching and OS upgrades in Linux & Windows
  • Automate most System Administration functions
  • Monitor, prevent and troubleshoot security related issues
  • Provide strategic vision in engineering solutions that touch all aspects of the infrastructure
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in web development, Linux operations and automation
  • Strong experience in scripting and automation with a proven record to reduce manual work with the automation of server builds, patching, release management and capacity information
  • Must be well versed in both Linux and Windows environments
  • Must be well-versed in the following:
    • Languages (Python, PHP, Shell)
    • Containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
    • Chef, Ansible, Puppet
    • Terraform 
  • Networking experience with TCP/IP, DNS, subnets, VLANs, firewalls, load balancing, SMTP protocol
  • AWS - load balancing/VPC/AMI/networking / monitoring 
  • Software hardware raiding, experience with physical servers and IPIMtool, hardware monitoring
  • Monitoring - Nagios/Splunk/Elk or any new tool
  • Security - familiar with LDAP or AD. Experience creating utilities to capture audit failures
  • Proven record to lead a team technically for all System Administration activities
