Senior Monitoring Specialist - Systems Development Engineer
Princeton Information is seeking a Specialist Systems Development Engineer – Monitoring. Functioning as a Specialist Information Systems Engineer, the Specialist Development Engineer will be responsible for development of API and integration of monitoring systems with oversight supporting the enterprise monitoring environment. Conveying vision and flexibility, the Specialist Development Engineer will adjust technology tools to fit the various business and technical use cases impacting internal company systems performance and availability management globally.
The Specialist Development Engineer will report to the Manager Information Systems based at our client's state-of-the-art center in Tampa, FL. The new Tampa Center provides essential services that enable us to better pursue the company's core mission. This serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a meaningful impact at one of the world's leading biotechnology companies.
The Monitoring team is center of excellence at Client to provide monitoring, dashboards and alerting to various IS teams and clients. We monitor everything touching the company's network and work with application teams to provide a true service view to trend performance and availability in a continuously integrated environment.
Key Activities for a Specialist Systems Development Engineer include:
  • Provide management analysis and recommendations regarding investments into new infrastructure and technologies to the business
  • Serve as a platform Subject Matter Expert for the Monitoring team and work with its members to develop, deploy, maintain, and create dashboards and reports for various Information Systems service groups
  • Create and maintain SDLC Wiki of standard procedures to mentor staff
  • Plan and design integration of new tools into existing tools for notification and CMDB ticketing systems
  • Develop, then automate the full life-cycle of systems and applications monitoring and alerting through API's
  • Support NOC utilizing available monitoring tools to deploy business functionality and develop dashboards and provide end to end visibility of business applications
  • Ensure service is aligned with the key principles of service ownership which includes: meeting the needs of the business, cost effectiveness, scalability, compliance, reliability, and resilience
    Qualifications
  • Demonstrated development Skills: Ansible, C/C# , JavaScript, Python, GO, REST API usage and development
  • 3 years of experience with enterprise monitoring tools in server/network/application domain (Kafka, ELK Stack, InfluxDB, Grafana and Ansible)
  • Demonstrated understanding of CMDB and Service Desk toolset and cloud platform monitoring experience (AWS/Azure/Rackspace etc.)
  • Strong understanding of SNMP fundamentals
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CMDB and Service Desk toolset integration with expertise in Windows/Linux/Unix/Cisco Monitoring tools
  • Strong exposure to servers, network, storage, database and application infrastructure
    Education Qualifications
    Doctorate degree OR Master's degree and 3 years of Information Systems and/or Monitoring Engineer experience OR Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Systems and/or Monitoring Engineer experience OR Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems and/or Monitoring Engineer experience OR High school diploma/GED and 12 years of Information Systems and/or Monitoring Engineer experience
