AboutWeb is looking for an enthusiastic business development intern to assist our Business Development Manager in cultivating new leads for growing AboutWeb and expanding the AboutWeb Cares program. You will have administrative duties in helping to identify new leads and follow up on current Business Development opportunities for AboutWeb.

As a business development intern, you will collaborate with Business Development Manager to assist with all stages of business development, including lead research, cold calling, data entry, and marketing of the AboutWeb Cares program. Your insightful contribution will help develop, expand, and maintain our business development efforts.
This internship will help you acquire sales and networking skills and provide you with in-depth knowledge of the IT field and Federal Capture Process. Ultimately, you will gain broad experience in sales and business development and should be prepared to enter any fast paced work environment. We are seeking a commitment of 10 hours/week. This internship is unpaid.
Business Development Intern Responsibilities:
  • Use internet research to develop and Client qualified leads
  • 50 reach out calls a week to IT companies and govt. contractors in need of IT services
  • Research our competition and provide feedback to the Business Development Manager
  • Support the Business Development manager in daily administrative tasks
  • Assist in Business Development activities (e.g. social media, direct mail and web)
  • Research and attend relevant networking events with the Client Manager
  • Manage and update company database & customer relationship mgmt. systems (CRM)
  • Passion for working with a social enterprise company
  • Have an interest in reducing poverty by creating IT opportunities for people from economically underutilized areas
  • Interest in learning about the business strategies of a social enterprise company
  • Solid understanding of different business development techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Familiarity with marketing computer software and online applications (e.g. CRM tools, Online analytics and Google Adwords)
  • Passion for the marketing industry and its best practices
  • Current enrollment in a related BS or Masters degree
