Associate– Data Mining and Analytics  
The Internal Audit Group of a leading Investment firm serves as an independent global function responsible for providing assurance and advisory services covering all of Company’s businesses and operations.  Audit is a critical component of the company’s control and risk management infrastructure.  The group seeks to attract and develop best-in-class talent from multi-disciplinary backgrounds including asset management, finance, technology, risk management, accounting, and operations.  Successful professionals in the group will demonstrate a strong understanding of the asset and risk management businesses, build strong working relationships with business partners, and deliver value-added services which strengthen the risk and control environment.
The Associate– Data Mining and Analytics will be involved support and development of a strategy and in driving the implementation of a data analytics program.   He/she will be required to engage with the Business and Technology auditors, internal risk partners and with product teams to implement the goals of the Internal Audit.   
The Associate, Data Mining and Analytics will support the development and implementation of a strategic data analytics program for Internal Audit and support the development of the function’s operating platform.   He/she will be required to engage with business and technology teams, internal risk partners and with information technology teams to implement the goals of Internal Audit.   
Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Participate in the strategic development of the data analytics program including the design and implementation of appropriate tools and technologies
  • Liaise with Internal Audit management and business partners to support the implementation of continuous auditing and monitoring activities
  • Work with the Internal Audit team to identify opportunities to leverage technology and analytics in connection with risk assessment and audit execution processes
  • Participate in short term data mining activities aimed at supporting audit delivery and other ad-hoc requests to support audit engagements
  • Build strong relationships with information technology teams to ensure that successful data mining and analytics activities are conducted
  • Supporting the VP, Data Mining & Analytics as necessary
  • Support in the development and distribution of data analytics documentation, training and methodology
  • Support the development and maintenance of a data analytics inventory
  • Support the development of the function’s audit work paper, workflow, issue management and scheduling platforms
Skills and Experience:
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in CIS, finance, economics, risk management or other business related field is preferred
  • Strong skills in scripting SQL and VB essential
  • Experience with data warehousing, data analytics and data mining tools, such as Cognos and ACL
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, and listening) and interpersonal skills
