Element Consulting Group has an immediate need for a Software Asset Analyst Consultant to join our Client's team in Painted Post, New York.

Job Description:

As a Software Asset Analyst in the IT Vendor Management function you will be involved in the management of software acquisition, compliance, maintenance renewals, life cycle planning and costing.
  • Serve as the SAM subject matter expert and IT Vendor Management owner for assigned strategic software vendor relationships and associated software licensing.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact to IT Service Line Owners for assigned strategic software vendors and associated licensing.
  • Lead and/or facilitate software audit and true-up processes.
  • Collect and maintain accurate and complete software licensing information in repositories.
  • Identify savings opportunities for renewals, software licensing, and services.
  • Develop processes and procedures to automate the collection, storage and reporting of key software license data.
  • Provide analysis of the software license data that can be used to drive key business decisions.
  • Stay informed of new and updated software license models and options for key vendor products
  • General Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the IT Service Line requirements by ensuring that maintenance, support and upgrade protection renewals are managed/handled/ordered in advance of their expiration.
  • Communicate effectively through email, individual interviews, group meetings, and presentations to vendors, end users, IT stakeholders and internal business partners.
  • Respond to requests from end users, managers, vendors and team members.

  • Advanced to expert level with Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Software Asset Management
  • Some knowledge of Software Asset Management principles and practices
  • Some experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions and facilitating vendor true-ups and audits for publishers such as Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe, SAP, Symantec, IBM, HP, etc.
  • Some experience managing or working with IT vendors.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Some project management capabilities/skills.
Education/Certifications
  • BA/BS IT/IS Management, or 5 to 10 years of experience of an equivalent combination of education and experience in software asset management, sourcing, procurement or software contract management.
  • IAITAM certifications are not required but considered a plus: Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) and Certified ITIL Foundation or a strong knowledge of Software Asset Management principals / practices preferred.
