R.J. Blackley Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center in Butner, NC, serves the central region of the state and is one of three state-operated centers specially designed to treat adults with addictions and/or co-occurring disorders. Our location is ideal with four seasons, mild temperatures and provides an easy commute to the North Carolina Mountains or beaches. Butner possesses small town charm but is within 30 minutes of a major metropolitan area including Research Triangle Park, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Durham, NC.

Position Overview
The Health Care Technician is responsible for providing support to consumers working towards their treatment goals and safely manage the milieu. Assist in fostering a therapeutic environment, assist consumers with ADLs, monitoring medical, emotional, behavioral or social problems. Requires close observation and interaction with all consumers. HCTs are expected to accompany and/or transport consumers in need of medical services outside the facility and lead or co-lead consumer groups, ward meetings, consumer orientation and/or other recreational activities.

  • Must have a current North Carolina CNA license or certification.
  • Minimum computer skills necessary to type reports, access and respond to email as well as include attachments, complete on-line training are required.
  • Physical requirements include ability to pass CPR, NVCI and lifting up to 50 pounds. As a condition for continued employment, must be able to successfully pass all required parts of CPI's Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI).
  • Knowledge of common physical & mental diseases of adults, substance abuse treatment approaches and motivational interviewing communication approaches.
