Battle Creek VAMC
Since 1924, the Battle Creek, Michigan VA Medical Center (VAMC) has been improving the health of the men and women who have served our nation. We consider it our privilege to serve your health care needs. We serve over 42,000 Veterans in 22 counties of the southwestern lower peninsula of Michigan.
The Battle Creek VAMC consists of 276 total operating beds, including 55 inpatient mental health beds, 11 inpatient medical beds, 109 Community Living Center beds, and 101 Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) beds. The Battle Creek VAMC is classified as a neuropsychiatric facility and is the hub of mental health care for VA Medical Centers in the lower peninsula of Michigan. Battle Creek VAMC provides state-of-the-art, evidence-based, recovery-oriented mental health care. The Medical Center also offers a wide variety of health care services, which includes both inpatient and outpatient care.
 
Responsibilities (duties include, but are not limited to)
Physician care shall cover the range of Psychiatry services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized TJC, VA and national standards.

  • Psychotherapy
  • Pharmacotherapy
  • Consultation
  • Clinical Supervision
  • General Medical Condition Care
  • Group Psychotherapy
  • Behavior Therapy
  • Family Therapy
  • Treatment Team meetings
  • Discharge Planning
  • Referring patients to specialty care
  • Histories and physicals, order prescriptions, labs, x-rays, and other pertinent tests,
  • Complete documentation requirements in a timely manner as per policy.
  • Completion of consults on other inpatient locations at the facility, and occasionally evaluates outpatients for medication.
Qualifications
  • Physician must have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.  All licenses held must be full and unrestricted licenses.
  • Physician must be board certified or board eligible in psychiatry.
  • Physician must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA).
