The city of Norwich, Connecticut, also known as "The Rose of New England , was founded in 1659 by settlers from Saybrook. The land was purchased from Chief Uncas of the "Mohegan Native American Tribe . This Native American tribe originated in upstate New York as the Mohegans and later became The Mohegan Tribe after moving into Connecticut. As one of the first Connecticut cities, Norwich was incorporated in 1784. Textile factories were common, due to the available water supply of the Yantic and Shetucket rivers. Thanks to the ship trading between Boston and New York, Norwich became a prosperous shipping center, due to its convenient location. It was also known as both an agricultural and industrial area. Many of the agricultural areas evolved into to more industrial ways over time.

The Norwich & Worcester Railroad (still alive today) was constructed from 1835-1840. Today's Norwich is flourishing and boasts immigrants from French Canada, Cape Verde Islands, Europe, and more. The "Mohegan Native American Tribe continues to thrive in this area of Connecticut as well. Named after the tribe, Mohegan Park is one of the most popular recreational areas in the city today. With it being the largest park in Norwich, residents and patrons can enjoy the beach, hiking and biking trails, basketball courts, picnicking and grilling, playgrounds, and more. Many events and activities are held here and preservation efforts are constantly made to keep it thriving.

Requirements (duties include but are not limited to)
  • Provide psycho-diagnostic evaluations, behavioral management, psychological testing within her/his area of expertise, supportive therapy and group therapy.
  • Work as a member of the interdisciplinary team assigned to the facility.
  • Participate in case reviews, consultations and utilization review.
  • Respond to urgent calls from the facility and facilitate problem solving.
  • Provide in-service education at the facilities as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records on patients treated Maintain and submit accurate records for billing purposes on a daily basis.
  • Participate in staff meetings as needed.
  • Provides quality, reliable and consistent behavioral health services to the patients of assigned facilities and communicates with the staff at the facility.
  • Follows schedule as created by Regional Manager or regional scheduling manager and presents at facility on scheduled day.
  • Must complete clinical documentation, daily activity sheets and time and attendance entries in a timely manner as directed.
Qualifications
  • PhD, or PsyD, or equivalent recognized doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited university.
  • Two years of supervised clinical experience at least one of which is post degree.
  • Holds a valid permanent license in practicing state(s) as a clinical psychologist in accordance with the regulations of that state or in the process of obtaining it.
  • Must be able to meet the credentialing requirements of MedOptions and the facilities assigned to. Must be able to become credentialed with Medicare and Medicaid and other payers as necessary.
  • Geriatric experience preferred.
