The Setting

Luke Air Force Base - Glendale, AZ
Located 7 miles west of Glendale and 15 miles west of Phoenix. Luke AFB is a major training base of the Air Education and Training Command (AETC), training pilots in the F-16 Fighting Falcon. In addition to flying and maintaining the F-16, Luke airmen also deploy to support on-going operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and to combatant commanders in other locations around the world.

REQUIREMENTS (duties include but are not limited to)
  • Capable of performing the full range of general medical services to include the ability and experience to adequately diagnose and treat urgent/acute diseases and injuries - to include but not limited to the following:
    • Skin, Pulmonary System, Head, Gastrointestinal System, Eyes, Musculoskeletal System, Ears, Genitourinary System, Nose, Reproductive System, Throat, Lymphopoietic System, Neck, Central Nervous System, Cardiovascular System, Endocrine System
  • Be familiar with the hospital formulary. The pharmacy services will provide instructions to all prescribing practitioners regarding substitutions of generic drugs for prescribed drugs.
  • Prepare and maintain proper medical records on beneficiaries to whom treatment is provided in accordance with MTF procedures.
  • Follow the established operating procedures for the pediatric clinic.
  • Participate in the quality control activities of the department of pediatrics.
  • Successfully completed an internship and residency in an accredited U.S. Pediatric Training Program.
  • Eligible for board certification by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) or American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics (AOBP) with the following qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Pediatrics or be within two years of residency completion (for new residency graduates only)
  • Have and maintain current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Must have experience in the clinical practice of Pediatrics or in residency training for 24 of the last 36 months.
