HMI/PLC Programmer

 Hours of work: (they can start between 7:30 - 8:30 am and finish at 4 - 5 pm respectively)

Responsibilities: 
  • The role of the HMI/PLC Programmer will include automation and controls systems design, PLC/HMI/SCADA programming, simulation and testing and start-up commissioning. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record in developing advanced PLC and HMI logic and programming with the following software vendors:
    • Allen Bradley
    • Siemens
    • Rockwell FactoryTalk View ME
    • Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE
    • Siemens WinCC flexible
    • Siemens WinCC
  • Complete software programming and hardware/software design using established standards as required
  • Provide detailed information and has the ability to communicate the design and operation to customers and internal company personnel
  • Effectively communicates the status of projects to the management team
  • Assist in the selection, order, and delivery of software and hardware for assigned projects
  • Assist in communicating all technical related issues to customers and management
  • Provide project specific training for customers and internal personnel
  • Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and communicates the potential improvements as it relates to customer applications to management
  • Develop programming estimates to support cost estimation for quoting and sales initiatives
  • Ensure all documents and programs are complete, current and stored appropriately upon project completion
  • Document all lessons learned from projects and shares the information with the engineering and sales teams
 
 
Requirements:
  • College or Graduate degree in Electrical/Electronic or Computer Engineering
  • At least 2 years of working experience with HMI/PLC development programming
  • Direct hands-on work experience designing, programming, testing and commissioning advanced control systems mainly in these industries – Food Processing, Pharmaceutical, Chemical and Automotive
  • Background in electrical and instrumentation wiring and troubleshooting a must
  • Programming experience with DeviceNet Explicit Messaging, .Net, C/C++, C#, VB/VB.Net and SQT/TSQL/SQL+
  • Experience reading electrical schematics/wiring diagrams and P&ID drawings
  • Basic understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, AC, DC, Servo Motors and VFD (variable frequency drives)
  • Possesses advanced knowledge and thorough understanding in areas of control system integration, plant floor automation, application programming, databases, and design
  • Able to complete assigned tasks and maintain schedules for multiple projects even as customer requirements are changing
  • Able to evaluate and convey changes in project scope and/or schedule changes to the Project Manager
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
  • Knowledge of ISA 95 and ISA 101
