Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Process Engineer. This position will be involved in all process engineering aspects for a fiber glass manufacturing plant and must be willing to work in a collaborative environment to improve efficiencies and reduce costs. Emphasis on safety and environment compliance are important in our work environment. The Defiance, Ohio locations produce cured and uncured fiberglass products that serve the automotive, aerospace, OEM, air handling and pipe & mechanical markets.
Essential Job Functions
  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements
  • Work with operators to develop, improve and monitor key procedures.
  • Identify process and equipment limitations to debottleneck where appropriate.
  • Seek, recognize, define and solve to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized for expertise and functional leadership in applications of engineering principles, scientific analysis, continuous improvement and project management.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher Engineering, preferably mechanical
  • 3-5 years' engineering experience
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing industry practices, engineering principles
  • Must have very good written and oral communications skills
  • Excellent computer skills required
  • Use of basic reasoning, thinking 'on your feet', and ability to resolve issues quickly with little or no direction from a supervisor. Ability to make good judgment calls and render good decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve project results within required time frames
  • Experience with SAP/ERP/ADP
  • Experience with planning and scheduling activities
  • Process improvement tools such as Lean/Six Sigma

IDEAL CANDIDATE
Ideal candidate will come out of a continuous operation environment, will be focused on monitoring operations - be on the floor (60%) working on productivity and improvements, forecasting and working hand in hand with the schedulers. Black Belt background is a plus. Will be addressing immediate concerns with the process technicians.
