Duties:
  • Utilize knowledge and technical expertise in order to establish, document and maintain a robust project management standards framework for life cycle management of all projects – from project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control and through closeout.
  • Work with the EPMO manager to establish process, methodologies and best practices for EPM and all board approved projects (over 300 projects totaling up to USD 1B annually).
  • Interact with other business units, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Project Managers and Project Controls team to gather expertise for inclusion, adaption and alignment of process and best practices to support the functional business groups.
  • Support project managers, project teams and sponsors to prepare for phased project deliverables and participate in and follow-up on actions from project gate reviews.
  • Work with the sponsor, business units and supporting organizations to identify, research, analyze and resolve standards issues and provide guidance on EPMO standards.
  • Ensure all PM supporting processes and methodologies support Rate Case requirements and documentation, conductings industry benchmarking efforts on project management methodologies, technologies and EMPO effectiveness for continuous improvement where needed.
  • Lead and assess the performance and compliance of projects against the EPMO process framework and determine project readiness for gate reviews.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to the EPMO project management team, subject matter experts and EPM project managers in order to adhere to the Project Life Cycle Management (PLM) process.
  • Ensure EPMO standards documentation complies with Company Document Lifecycle Management (DLM) standards.
  • This position will have occassional travel to other Coompany locations within Michigan.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Required to occassionally work outside of normal business hours.

Skills:
  • Significant complex project experience to help lead and guide the PM teams to embrace the value of the process and execute the process correctly
  • Significant risk management and mitigation experience is necessary to recognize potential issues and recommend corrective actions for success
  • Ability to facilitate a mixed group of stakeholders to identify process requirements and drive to consensus on process standards
  • Ideally, 10+ years of related experience

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or related field
  • PMP certification or equivalent
