Laboratory Technician

The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of bacterial and yeast colony and gram strain morphology, identification and susceptibility testing, and clinical workflow in the diagnostic laboratory. They will also be skilled in general laboratory practices, preparation of solutions, demonstrated familiarity in processing clinical specimens, and an acuity in working with automation instrumentation and software. The candidate will also be familiar with aseptic techniques and universal lab-safety precautions. Successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enjoy working in a team environment. The successful candidate will be able to execute experiments to support product development and product support activities related to automation of clinical microbiology laboratory processes. The lab tech prepares reagents and effectively utilizes standard laboratory equipment (e.g., balances, pipettes, centrifuges). The lab tech shall collect, record, and report results to peers and supervisor/manager either orally or in writing, and assist in the execution of validation studies.

Quals--
Basic math knowledge and application is required. Greater than 6 months relevant experience in a clinical, industrial, or academic lab setting. Bachelor's degree required preferably in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Immunology or other related field.
