Extrusion Operator

Responsible for plant safety and to exercise good judgement in all operations. Operate extrusion line(s) with the help of supporting crew. Evaluate and train crew members.
  • Learn to manage a complex series of machine settings that have interrelated outcomes as they are being changed.
  • Learn the complexity of the polypropylene technology and how it relates to the extrusion process.
  • Recognize changes in the production environment that cause a problem to develop and make change in advance of causing loss of production.
  • Train to operate all pieces of equipment.
  • Understand and make a complex set of adjustments to maximize production. This includes; temperature control, choke bar, gap control, and pressure developed in the extrusion process. Screen changes without causing machine to go down. Adjusting the down stream equipment; calibrator, pull units, ovens, and cutters, et.
  • Startup and shutdown of the extruders in a timely fashion to eliminate as much downtime as possible.
Organize the extrusion crew.

Required – 2 or more years experience with machine operations.
Required – High School diploma or GED
