Our client is seeking a Senior Accounting and Reporting Analyst, Corporate Accounting
  
Finance Department Overview     

The goals for the Finance Department are to establish and maintain a strong financial foundation to protect the organization's financial interests, and to shape the financial future.
Working with the firm's Senior Management, we are responsible for designing and implementing the organization's financial strategy. 
More specifically, we execute the day-to-day financial operations; we protect and oversee corporate assets; and we provide strategic information about, and synthesis of, the financial picture to Senior Management.
 
Position Summary:

The primary responsibilities of the Corporate Accounting group are to:
  • Prepare timely and accurate consolidated financial statements and perform analysis for consolidated financial statements Provide financial reporting that meets the needs of our customers, including both internal and external stakeholders
  • Set accounting policies that satisfy the needs of the organization and ensure compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ("GAAP”)
  • Establish and operate in a controlled environment that will both prevent and detect errors and safeguard assets
 
We are looking for a high-potential, hands- on financial professional to take initiative, demonstrate a strong sense of personal responsibility, and persist to overcome challenges to help the Corporate Accounting team achieve its goals. This position will report to the Corporate Accounting Team Lead and will assist in operationalizing technical GAAP accounting policy and firm standards and procedures. 
Additionally, this position will assist with preparing consolidated GAAP statements on a quarterly and annual basis within the GL/Reporting system.  
Given the responsibilities of the role, the successful candidate will have exposure to, and need to be able to able to build relationships with various departments and members of management.
The role also has high exposure to the financial statement audit, compliance and regulatory reporting requirements.
 
To be successful in this role, the candidate must be able to
1) visualize and operationalize accounting requirements through a transaction life cycle and the reporting requirements
2) to satisfy disclosure requirements set out by the Accounting Policy team.  
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience identifying and bridging risks and controls across finance, and strong accounting logic and precision with accounting concepts, US GAAP rules and other accounting basis. 
Additionally, the candidate must possess strong detail-orientation, logical, heightened professional skepticism, and be methodical in his/her approach to solving problems and driving results in a timely and effective manner.
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements/footnotes for entities in accordance with GAAP; Maintain and develop reports within entity GL and reporting system Responsible for  validating financial results generated by accounting operations and liaise with  other Finance teams to gather and analyze financial data and forecasts, including substantive reviews and analytical procedures to validate close results
  • Analyze and synthesize key drivers to GAAP Financial Statements; Anticipate executive management reporting needs, and deliver timely, accurate and insightful management reporting/analysis;
  • Prepare financial information for both internal and external customers, including regulatory and census filings
  • Assist in the development of operational accounting guidance and implementation for unique and non-recurring transactions; Develop implementation guidelines referencing the Company's Accounting Policies and US GAAP codification
  • Execute certain aspects of financial reporting risk assessment and control monitoring; Document financial processes, perform risk assessments and test internal controls
  • Identify and implement process improvements as part of continuous improvement initiatives; Establish processes to standardize financial reporting requirements
  • Provide leverage in the coordination of annual audits
  • Execute and manage special projects, and initiatives as needed that support the overall goal of an excellent Corporate Finance Department
Position Requirements:
  • Minimum 5+ years accounting and reporting experience. Big 4 experience strongly preferred and/or strong public/corporate mix background; CPA preferred (CPA track/testing in progress)
  • BS/BA degree in Accounting  from a competitive school with a strong academic track record
  • Knowledge and application of GAAP with experience in fundamental corporate accounting concepts (and U.S.GAAP topics including: consolidation, real estate/leases, capital/equity, internal use software, share-based and deferred compensation and partnership accounting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); with  demonstrated intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and complete projects
  • Strong attention to detail, an ability to organize multiple streams of work, keep things on track while consistently meeting deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and problem solving skills and the ability to work with senior leaders in the business group and across finance.
  • Ability to reflect and learn from mistakes, with an ability to learn quickly on the job and work equally well either independently or as part of a team
Preferences
  • Experience with general ledger systems and proficiency in finance data model concepts a plus
  • Structured thinker with ability to apply logical thinking to reporting build-out and modification in both the GL system and excel
