The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and establishing priorities for the complete life-cycle of projects including the planning and implementation of business solutions designed to meet requirements of various Agencies. Senior Project Managers are familiar with a variety of project management methodologies and rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
They have proven experience leading technology projects to successful implementation.
They consult with the client to define needs or problems, conduct research, perform studies and surveys to obtain data, and analyze problems to advise on or recommend solutions, utilizing knowledge of theory, principles, or technology of specific discipline or field of specialization.

Project Overview:

Our client will be implementing Windows 10 Enterprise to all end-user workstations. This project will include all State of Maine Executive Branch agencies, and approximately 11,000 users. This is a very visible position; relevant experience and people skills are equally important.

This position will report to a PMO-Program Manager and will work closely with other project team members to coordinate and track activities of multiple stakeholder groups including an external vendor team, business groups, technology deployment teams, and the internal information technology application development group. This position will be responsible for day-to-day management of this large and complex project.

The project timeline is estimated to be from 12-16 months in duration.

Candidates selected for final interviews may be required to provide sample documentation from previous work assignments. We may request samples of project plans and samples of status reports/ status dashboards used in project updates.

Required Attributes:
  • Years of Relevant Experience: More than 10 years
  • Preferred Education: 4 year college degree in computer science or a related field; certifications specific to the field of project management.
Role Description:
  • Independent Project Leader, able to guide work of Project Team including any assigned PMO resources. 
  • Provides regular executive-level updates on project activities, presents key decisions and high-level summaries to management
  • Proactively escalates project issues and concerns to PMO management, able to identify solutions that can work for the State of Maine
  • May be responsible for multiple projects, self-motivated to provide consistent delivery across assigned project workload
  • This is a senior level role within the PMO, and requires impeccable communication skills and a calm, confident demeanor
  • Designs project plans, which identify needs and define major tasks and milestones, based on scope, resources, budget, and personnel.
  • Requires proven success communicating verbally and in writing to multiple project stakeholders internal and external to the organization.
  • Determines project needs and acquires resources required for the success of the project.
  • Coordinates the development of new systems and/or applications projects, the modification of existing systems or applications, or changes in current methods or techniques.
  • Coordinates project performance with the other work of the affected department or departments.
