Our client is seeking a Contract Copy Editor, Content. Are you a precise and indefatigable copy editor? Do you have a proven track record of improving copy destined for the web that is smooth, clear, and error-free?
Their Editorial team is looking for a Copy Editor to support the launch of a new, high-profile, customer-facing initiative; you will copyedit original content written by a team of editors.
To excel in this position, you will be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, with high expectations for work quality and output.
You're used to dealing with tight deadlines and can manage the requirements of various internal stakeholders.
You improve the entire look and feel of your projects through your attention to detail, and your work on the page seems effortless (we know it's not!)

Specifically, you will:
  • Edit original editorial content and copy that will enhance a customer's understanding and enjoyment of key titles
  • Provide guidance to the team of approximately 15 Editors on best practices for each type of copy on the page, to ensure consistency and reduce errors from the start of the process.
  • Work with Editorial, Content Acquisition, Brand, Data Science, and Legal teams to successfully deliver on key milestones
  • Independently manage, execute and report on your output on a daily basis
  • Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders on progress, with both quantitative and qualitative feedback to support your output
  • Manage your project effectively and following consistent operational processes
  • Prioritize, evaluate, plan, execute and monitor all phases of your project
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve processes where needed
  • Produce relevant reporting to meet business needs
  • Drive continuous improvements for systemic issues that hinder the efficient management of projects
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Media, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proven excellence in copyediting, especially copy about books and audiobooks
  • Familiarity with books and audiobooks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven track record of managing multiple tasks with speed, effectiveness, and attention to detail
  • Ability to know or to research when/whether an author's name (or narrator's) is mispronounced
  • Not required, but we'd love to hear about any of the following: familiarity with audiobooks, SEO experience, past web design experience, e-commerce skills, data-based decision-making.
