Description:
 
Telecommunications Product (Service) Managers are responsible for the oversight and overall success of telecommunications engineering and design services.
 
Telecommunications Service Managers are responsible to:
  • Manage the scheduling and delivery of assigned telecommunications projects and continuous improvement activities across CT, MA and NH.
  • Identify the appropriate resources, assemble the project team by brokering internal and external resources, and assign the responsibilities to fulfill the project requirements.
  • Identify and schedule emerging engineering work from internal customers such as Transmission, Distribution and Gas engineering, Operations, Information Technology and Facilities
  • Execute the workflow plans to navigate the project from request through scoping, engineering, estimation, drafting and Issued For Construction (IFC)
  • Lead engineering and design discipline to standardize the quality and presentation of engineering packages and associated documentation including estimates
  • Plan, prepare and issue project schedules to assure controlled completion of each project step.
  • Develop and report project status, and analyze progress and risks relative to project milestones.
  • Maintain forecasts to assure that schedule compliance and desired results are achieved.
  • Utilize project management methodologies and practices such as task and quality management, project estimation, Client and budget planning, modeling techniques and attendant tools.
  • Day-to-day management of a team of up to 10 represented and non-represented engineers including timesheet review, procurement endorsements and coaching.
Technical Knowledge/Skills:
  • Requires strong engineering and project management discipline.
  • Requires strong organization, communication, writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio).
  • Ability to use Project Management applications (e.g., Primavera P6).
  • Ability to use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications (e.g., IBM Maximo).
Education:
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and Information Technology Information Library (ITIL) preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years in business with a minimum of four (4) years in engineering, IT, service management and/or design management
