Sr. Acoustic Engineer:

Client is seeking a highly innovative, passionate and talented Sr. Acoustic Engineer with experience in complex control systems to join our team.
As a member of the Hardware Engineering Team, the Sr. Acoustic Engineer will contribute directly to client product development through the development, test and integration of acoustic test systems while actively participating in the system integration process and collaborating with the Software and Mechanical teams on a wide array of new product and advanced technology development in support of client's multi-year product and technology roadmaps

Skills and Qualifications:
  • BS, MS or Ph.D., in Acoustic, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years' experience in acoustic design and testing of consumer electronic devices (Acoustic Design and Testing on handheld devices a plus)
  • Experience in acoustic design and integration of solutions into modules for High Volume Manufacturing
  • Experience in high volume consumer electronics industry
  • Knowledge of and experience with the following:
    • Anechoic and Hemi-Anechoic Chamber
    • Reverberation Chamber
    • Impedance Tube
    • Data Acquisition Systems
    • Vibration Beam Tester
    • Software (such as NI, RoKCell, Alphacel) to predict acoustic and vibro-acoustic performance
    • Finite element analysis system modeling and simulation software to model device applications and predict acoustic and vibro-acoustic performance in acoustic chamber
    • NI LabView programming environment for test and measurement
  • Competencies in programming languages such as C, C++, C# a strong plus.
  • Proven experience taking designs from concept to mass production
  • Experience in analyzing system requirements and defining suitable system architectural approaches to achieve optimal performances, cost and reliability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and able to provide clear, concise technical presentations.
  • Development, integration & test of new acoustic test systems for clients automation products.
  • Ownership of the audio performance responsibility for a consumer product.
  • Translate product requirements into acoustic, mechanic and EE design requirements.
  • Experience in selection and integration of miniature acoustic transducers and microphone arrays
  • Lab setup and testing of acoustic performance using audio analyzers (NI, AP)
  • Troubleshooting: trace audible artifacts back to HW or Mechanical design issues
  • Algorithm tuning and verification on product level
  • Perform in-house testing and analysis of customer products to measure their current state acoustic and vibro-acoustic signatures.
  • Provide customers with acoustical surveys and analysis after testing their specific application and its associated acoustic and vibro-acoustic signature
  • Ascertain customer testing needs and develop strategies for meeting those needs including development and modification of acoustic test system.
  • Lead the certification processes as required for standards related to lab and/or industrial equipment.
  • Prepare product design verification test plans and execute tests that verify designs meet requirements
  • Actively participate in the subsystem integration process collaborating with the Software and Mechanical Engineering teams
  • Write technical documentation that meets the defined quality standards for manufacturing, service as required.
  • Interact with manufacturing, service teams to support a smooth product transition into manufacturing and the field.
  • Lead problem solving and troubleshooting for manufacturing and customer problem resolution.
  • Drive technical decisions affecting product systems or subsystems within area of expertise and understands the impact of decisions outside of area of expertise
  • Partner with management on product innovation and systems solutions and leads innovation that results in breakthrough solutions. Serve as a primary liaison on technical capabilities.
  • Provide input to customer proposals, product/technology roadmap and R&D plans.
