Our client is seeking a Sr. Business Analyst, reporting directly to the Director of Market Research.

This position is part of a newly formed organization Business Analysis & Strategy which includes the responsibilities of Market Research, Consolidation, Analysis, and Business Unit Strategy.
Our group's charter is to define short and long term market trends facing the global storage industry, accurately forecast the market demand, and analyze how different strategies across Business lines impact the consolidated P&L.
The market perspectives and analysis are utilized by many groups within the organization, including our executive team which communicates broadly to the outside analyst community and investment community. ​

We are looking for an Analyst who will be comfortable working closely with business teams but also dealing with complex numerical analysis.
A successful candidate will become an integral part of the business teams and play a key role in helping them analyze and plan their business.
Having a comprehensive understanding of their market segment and how insights help drive pricing decisions will be critical.

Key areas of responsibilities for our Analysts include:
  • Market Research – Determine the size of storage markets (HDD and NVM) and forecasted demand. Work with external third party data along with internal business leaders to source information needed for analysis. Develop and maintain tracking and planning tools to maintain a short term and long term view of the TAM (Total Addressable Market).
  • Analysis – Conduct market segmentation analysis and competitive analysis. Use statistical models to conduct forecasting. Develop and maintain forecast models. In-depth market analysis by geography, product, and channel. Analyze pricing strategies. Work with internal teams on competitive analysis. Examine end-user demand drivers (Enterprise Systems, PC's, Surveillance Systems etc.)
  • Consolidation – Prepare consolidated views of the business for executive meetings. Maintain and manage tracking of key business and financial metrics (market size, mix, pricing, costs, and margins etc.). Work with Business Units, Products, Finance, and Cost Teams on key metrics to build consolidated view.
  • Planning – Work with business segment leaders on quarterly planning and pricing strategy. Establish long term market forecasts that can be leveraged for product development and product road-maps. Run integrated scenario analysis on P&L for planning. Examine P&L impacts.
  • Tools and process – Maintain world wide price list for Distribution markets and assist with OEM negotiations tracking and scenario planning. Manage and develop content for pricing meetings with leaders for each business segment. Work closely with finance teams in tracking and planning. Develop new tools and look for end-to-end process efficiencies. Work with disparate data sources (people, SQL, Oracle, etc.). Manage vendor relationships.
The ideal candidate must be intellectually curious about how everything ties together to run our business and be a self-starter with a strong sense of initiative.
They should be as comfortable reaching out and getting information from people as they are working through an excel model. Industry knowledge in Storage Technologies, Cloud, Enterprise Systems, or Computer Hardware is a plus.
The position will work closely with outside analysts as well as internal customers including executives, sales, product managers, and technical resources.

The successful candidate must be able to consolidate vast amounts of data from disparate sources and turn that data into actionable insights.
He or she will have superb attention to detail, excellent written and oral communications and organizational skills. Moreover, he or she will be highly analytic, a great problem solver, and familiar with advanced statistical techniques.

Required Qualifications:
  • BS/BA degree in a quantitative field (economics, finance, statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, - quantitative majors).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in research and/or analytics, ideally in market, business, or financial analytics function
  • Creative and resourceful problem solver. Must be able to build a logical approach to address problems or opportunities or manage the situation at hand
  • Must be able to develop cooperation and foster teamwork at all levels while maintaining integrity of their point of view
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Must be able to think strategically and present concise information to senior staff
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel and experience with SQL and different databases
  • Project management. Must be able to manage multiple projects and deliverables. Develop own milestones and manage deliverables of others without direct authority
  • Business acumen. Understands how key metrics drive a business
  • Experience in statistical modeling techniques and pricing analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in the storage industry with knowledge of Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) and Solid State Drives (SSDs)
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field (quantitative analysis, statistics, applied mathematics, economics, et al)
  • Tableau or other visualization tools
  • Distribution or Channel experience
  • Experience with pricing tools
  • Business consulting experience
