Big Data Developers and Team Lead

As Luxoft is growing our Big Data Practice, we have immediate needs for a Big Data Team Lead, Sr Big Data Developer and a Jr Big Data Developer. These roles will focus on providing solutions to internal customers on a Big Data platform.

These roles are Full Time with us and therefore looking for candidates that can join our team directly (No C2C unless you are open to working on our W2). We offer competitive salaries and benefits.

If you are interested, please send me an updated resume and salary requirements. We are seeking a Big Data Developers (Junior and Senior) and Team Lead. Healthcare experience preferred but not mandatory.

The Big Data Platform is responsible for building the tools and processes that enable data analysis & decision support using the Hadoop ecosystem and other open source big data tools. We are building the next generation of data warehousing by working at the intersection of software engineering and data analysis. This includes real-time data ingestion and analytical production on top of the Big Data platform. Your primary responsibilities will be working with internal stakeholders and provide them with analytical solutions to solve business problems, train them and help them leverage the Big Data platform effectively. Your responsibilities include building tool-sets to enhance customer experience in using the platform, customize solutions based on use case, and working with the Product Team for future enhancements and bug-fixes.

Responsibilities:

• Understand product offerings deeply and work with customers to provide technical solutions
• Architect solutions to best meet customer requirements
• Create documentations and training for other SDEs
• Improve Platform capabilities
• Work with the Product Team and other Development Teams for enhancements and bug fixes
• Develop test suites for the product extensions you implement and participate in testing product releases.
• Manage and drive competing resourcing requests demands for multiple concurrent client engagements
• Identify and orchestrate project activities of teams from cross-functional customer, Hortonworks, and partner stakeholders
• Manage project to schedule, budget, and contracted deliverables (including planning, scheduling, milestone reviews, etc.)
• Drive project kick-off processes so the right resources are available to the customer at the right time.
• Drive project post mortems for management and customers
• Ensure quality and time management processes are followed by team (e.g., change controls, time tracking)
• Help to document best practices in developing and deploying Hortonworks solutions
• Serve as a frontline resource for best practices and informal customer questions

  • Skills:
    • experience of software development (UNIX scripting, Perl or Python, Java/Scala)
    • Strong SQL and Unix skills
    • Understanding of Teradata (for porting of queries to Hadoop and testing data set between Hadoop and Teradata)
    • Experience working with Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, SPARK, or any open source data ingestion tools (Flume, Kafka etc.)
    • Experience of developing software on the Linux platform (scripting, strong understanding of architecture)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong work ethic and solutions oriented
    • Strong customer service skills
    • Education: BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
