 My direct client in Cambridge, MA is hiring a Technology and Development Manager. This is an incredible opportunity for seasoned development professionals seeking a high-level and high-visibility role within one of Boston's top marketing agencies.

Duration: Permanent placement preferred. 2+ month contract or contract-to-hire will be considered for appropriate candidate situations.

You are an experienced software development professional who loves system design and solving a client's marketing challenges.
We're looking for someone who wants full ownership of technology projects – including:
·         Partnering with clients and CB's Account and Strategy teams
·         Selecting the stack and any third-party applications
·         Performing design/architecture work
·         Choosing development partners to deliver the code
·         Performing code reviews and contributing to the code base as needed
·         Working with QA and taking a DevOps approach to hosting and data security
Role and Responsibilities
Systems/Solution Architecture
·         Propose solutions to strategic business and technology challenges for agency and clients
·         Lead the technical design and planning of selected software solutions
·         Define and set technical strategy, including recommendations for overall agency services
·         Contribute to writing technical specifications for applications and software development
Client/Agency Relationships
·         Act as the client's trusted advisor on technology strategy, trends and best practices
·         Work with internal agency teams to provide advice on design, implementation, tools, scalability, system performance and dependencies (e.g. Account, Analytics, UX, Creative)
·         Serve as "hands-on” escalation point to identify and suggest approaches to resolve issues
IT/Dev Vendor Management
·         Recommend, manage and own all vendor relationships such as development, hosting, domain/SSL management, code repositories, deployment tools, backups, email distribution and others
·         Set up and maintain dev, staging, and production environments, including repos, backups, patching, etc.
·         Onboard new partners and assist in evaluating prospective partners
·         Lead and oversee governance and strategic direction for the cloud infrastructure services for the delivery of agency and client applications
·         Monitor and evaluate security alert landscape (e.g.
·         Implement technical infrastructure, architecture, application systems and/or related business processes to ensure the reliable operation of new technology or systems
Project Leadership
·         Support project management in defining process and workflow best practices with developers
·         Support development by spending 10-20% of time writing code and/or performing code reviews
·         Work with the developers to help refine and improve codebase for client applications
·         Investigate, analyze, and evangelize programming methodologies for improved efficiencies
·         Encourage active participation in all phases of the project lifecycle, and work with project management to remove impediments in development, QA and deployment
·         Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred
·         Agency experience preferred
·         Experience in a consulting or client-facing role, ideally in a large organization
·         Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills
·         Passion for innovation
·         Ability to develop and maintain highly effective relationships, internally and externally
·         5-10+ years of experience as a full-stack software developer—technology agnostic but preferably LAMP stack or .NET
·         Previous management/technical leadership is a plus but not required
·         Demonstrated experience in enterprise architecture, systems integration, package implementation, and system design
·         Experience with CMS, CRM applications, ETL and data warehouse a plus
Project Management
·         Ability to understand critical issues and bring appropriate resolution to cross-industry, complex issues
·         Familiarity with agile development processes
·         Positive attitude with focus on the success of the team over individual accomplishments
·         Ability to drive complex estimates that take one or more projects into account and to effectively communicate risks and dependencies to clients
·         Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and what it means for software applications and data security
·         Experience with Veeva system a plus
