A DevOps Engineer here at Lands' End works closely with various development teams on successful deployment from testing environments through to Production, the design & implementation of appropriate Production monitoring/alerting solutions, as well as investigation/analysis of infrastructure initiatives & issues. We support our Apache/Tomcat webserver environments, both here in our data center and in the cloud on AWS, and are responsible for achieving and maintaining high availability of our systems 24x7. In addition, we are moving quickly to develop the team into a Cloud Computing Center of Excellence.
The successful candidate for this position will have advanced experience in AWS, enjoy problem solving, troubleshooting and investigation in cross-functional environments, take responsibility for issues, be highly motivated to learn and enjoy working on a high energy team in a very collaborative environment. For this position, we are looking for a candidate with at least 5+ years of relevant experience with an emphasis on AWS.
Required skills
  • Demonstrated expertise working in the AWS cloud environment
  • Advanced experience with Linux and/or Unix
  • Python, Shell and/or Perl scripting experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Tomcat, Apache
  • Use of version control software, such as Subversion, Git, etc.
  • Demonstrated work in an agile development environment, utilizing continuous integration/deployment practices
  • Knowledge of HTTP, HTML, browser debugging techniques and web technologies

Desired skills
  • Experience with website and application monitoring/alerting packages, DynaTrace preferred
  • Experience with Java programming & debugging
  • Experience with SQL, preferably with Oracle or native AWS DB solutions
  • Experience with automated software deployment applications such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.
  • Experience with the Atlassian toolset
  • Some familiarity with networking technologies such as load balancers, firewalls, DNS, web security policies and methods, caching techniques
  • Exposure to job/task scheduling packages, especially Universal Automation Center, is a plus
