This director-level position is responsible for leading all aspects of the Museum's IT infrastructure and systems. While this is a very "hands-on” position, the Director must be able to conceive and implement strategic plans, negotiate with and oversee vendor relationships, and advise senior leadership and the Museum's Board of Directors. This position has three direct reports.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Thoroughly understand the Museum, including its programs, values, business requirements and the IT infrastructure necessary to achieve its mission.
  • Oversee day to day IT operations to ensure uptime of all hardware, software, and networks; manage staff providing end-user support and systems administration.
  • Create and execute short-term and long-term strategic plans for all technology platforms, anticipating scalability & growth.
  • Plan, implement and oversee technical projects, including requirements gathering, system architecture/design, vendor procurement, delivery management, and post-launch support/training; ensure projects are completed on budget, on time, and on technical specifications.
  • Ensure security of all IT by performing necessary upgrades, ensuring proper on/off boarding of staff, providing cyber security training, and leading business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Set policies and protocols for staff use of systems and networks; train staff on technology features and enhancements.
  • Assist the Digital team as needed.
  • Stay abreast of growing use of information technology in museums and work with staff to plan for and implement innovative platforms that keep the museum competitive in the field.
  • Advanced degree and 5-10 years of relevant experience, ideally in a museum, cultural or non-profit institution
  • Expert knowledge of business tools and systems including CRM, accounting, email marketing and ticketing systems
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee and prioritize multiple projects at different stages of completion across functions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with technical know-how to roll-up sleeves and execute
  • Ability to be on-call 24/7 for emergencies
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; Master's degree preferred
