The Marketing Specialist will work closely with the marketing team members to assist with planning and implementing marketing activities and projects. Key responsibilities of the Marketing Specialist will be to:
  • Collect product and program information from the editorial, digital, operations, and sales teams to inform marketing communications and campaigns
  • Create tools and support materials for the sales team, including the product "playbook," email campaigns, flyers, and weekly announcements
  • Draft marketing copy relating to assigned products and campaigns for use in a variety of channels, including direct-marketing emails, advertisements, website pages, and social media
  • Liaise with the marketing agency and designers to execute advertising materials
  • Communicate with authors about marketing expectations for their products and help coordinate their marketing contributions, such as author videos, author letters, and sales team sessions
  • Update product information on websites ensuring correct metadata and product placement
  • Use marketing analytics techniques to gather and analyze important data and measure campaign success (web analytics, rankings, social media, click rates, sales, etc.), and assist with the creation of relevant reports and presentations
  • Contribute to the annual creation and presentation of the team's Marketing Plans
  • Conduct market research to find information about competitive products and market trends
  • Develop an understanding of customers and market needs in order to create, update, or maintain customer personas (faculty, institutions, and students)
  • Assist in coordinating company logistics and marketing materials for attending industry conferences, tradeshows, and special events
  • Maintain and update the marketing team's communications calendar
  • Assist with daily administrative tasks to ensure the marketing department runs smoothly

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising or related field, OR equivalent.
Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of related experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including spelling, grammar, and style
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge of fundamental marketing techniques
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members
  • Aptitude to learn new tools and skills expediently and work in a quickly evolving environment
  • Openness to receiving and applying feedback with an eagerness to learn and grow
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator or other marketing or creative software
  • Experience with Content Management Systems
  • Experience with Google Analytics or similar analytics tools
  • Experience with marketing automation platforms and paid search across platforms like Adwords, Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, and retargeting programs
Minimal travel <10% with occasional tradeshow and special event attendance.
