Essential Skills / Qualifications:
  • Strong Microsoft Windows, Exchange and VMWare background with knowledge of related tools and techniques
  • Strong background and knowledge of DoD policies and security guidelines
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills. Must have the ability to effectively balance multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize them to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently and in groups.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Architecting, installing and configuring MS Windows and MS Exchange servers
  • Experience maintaining multiple VMWare, Microsoft Windows and Exchange instances by keeping up to date with patches for the core installation as well as custom modules
  • Sizing the Windows and Exchange platform, performance tuning and administration
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Single sign on implementation and integration with Active Directory
  • Providing Tier 3 support to DMS users community
  • Performing message and user migration
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted stakeholders
  • Developing functional and technical documents such as architecture and design documents
  • Setting up and maintaining systems as per DoD policies and security requirements
  • Interfacing with government leadership and other stakeholders to collaborate on DMS initiative
  • Collaborate with Project Manager for status reporting
