 The Electronic Technician is responsible for the maintenance of electronic, electrical, and mechanical assemblies and systems. Work includes; troubleshooting, repair, modification, also be responsible for manual testing as well as writing test scripts to automate the testing process.
 
Qualified candidates will possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for the repair of digital circuits and analog circuits to component levels as well as strong scripting language experience to automate test cases. Candidates will have minimal 1-year experience using electronic test equipment, soldering equipment and hand tools.
 
Work load will comprise:
10% electrical hardware troubleshooting, soldering
40% manual testing device performance, regression testing
50% automated script development
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs repairs, modifications and tests of development hardware.
  • Troubleshoots product failures and performs necessary maintenance to return article to an operational state.
  • Operates electronic test equipment as required to perform tests and troubleshooting.  Knowledge of oscilloscopes, logging multimeters, JTAG programmers.
  • Performs solder work in accordance with industry standards.
  • Completes required documentation of all work and inspections performed.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisor and co-workers.
  • Characterizes hardware performance. 
  • Write scripts to control electronic test equipment and the ability to open a rs232 serial port to communicated to the device under test.  Test scripts should also can interface to the jtag programmer for automated code loading.
  • Candidates will have minimum 3 years of programming experience with one or more of the following scripting languages: Python, Perl, TCL.
  • Participate in hardware design reviews, review schematics and component data sheets.
  • Track prototype equipment inventories.
