We are seeking a Product Manager to be in our Chicago, IL or Des Plaines, IL location. This position manages the assigned product categories on a global basis to ensure continued growth, profitability, and favor among dental professionals. This includes strategic planning, in depth product knowledge, product planning, competitive product comparison, new product development, thought leader development, seminar/study club planning and support, sales training, and sales planning with key distribution partners. The Product Manager, in coordination with the entire team, will define strategic direction of the business unit and implement the tactical plans.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Commercial Results-Achieve worldwide business plan objectives of sales, net income, gross profit, inventory and price on an annual basis.
  • Brand Strategy - Contribute to the development of global brand strategies for products, services, programs and other key initiatives, including establishment of value proposition, targeting & segmentation, positioning, global branding, product launch and lifecycle management.
  • Product Launch - Responsible for leading and executing impactful global product launches.
  • Portfolio Planning & Product Development - Contribute to multi-generational portfolio plans aligned to company strategy. Partner with R&D, Regulatory and Operations to lead product development programs. Responsible for contributing to product scope, providing design inputs, validating product design, and development of launch messaging and materials, set configurations, etc. Leverage strong understanding of product development process and functional areas (quality, regulatory, etc.) to ensure on-time launches. Lead new product development initiatives including test market evaluations, managing design control process and launch plan activities.
  • Business Development – Help define strategic direction and create the strategic business unit plan in coordination with the SBU leader. Identify external partners to target for acquisition or strategic partnership to fill gaps in the portfolio or create competitive differentiation. Develop business cases to gain internal support for proposed partnerships/acquisitions. Develop and foster relationships with partners to proactively solicit and include feedback in both Product and Marketing development. Actively follow a process of best practice idea exchanges.
  • Customer Insights and Analytics – Plan and execute market research initiatives around customer needs and product validation.
  • Business Planning & Execution - Work closely with manager to develop business plans related to area of focus (i.e. business segment, product, region, etc.). Collaborate with other functional areas to execute plan.
  • Field Support - Partner closely with Regional Marketing and Sales Teams to gather input on customer needs and ensure strong alignment with product and company strategy.
  • General Business Support - Develop strong relationships with customers and key targets. Work collaboratively with functional areas and Strategic Partners to ensure business issues are addressed. Develop and maintain an understanding of the production process for products in assigned groups; with special emphasis on end users, lead-time, cost drivers, and margins.
Functional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in Business/Marketing/Product Marketing. MBA is preferred.
  • Three to Five years' experience in Marketing and/or Product Development is required. Global experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in Dental products, Medical Device or other healthcare regulated environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of Marketing 4Ps, especially experience with developing new products, developing and implementing promotional strategies
  • Knowledge of digital marketing, including social media, SEM, affiliate marketing, event marketing and CRM
  • Experience driving market share/Growth Strategy/Capturing market share from competitors
  • Experience managing a P&L; Developing a Performa (P&L justification & business plan for specific project)
  • Experience with Consumer Insight and Market research (Focus groups, surveys, product evaluations, interactions with customers, etc.)
  • Experience with interpreting data and using to develop strategy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel approximately 20%
