Position Summary
  • The Kubernetes Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of introducing and maintaining multiple Kubernetes private clusters within our network including the development, deployment, maintenance and operations of the clusters and the hosted applications.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Refine, develop, and execute technology development and deployment plan, in accordance with our overall plan for building and operating its own Kubernetes-based private clouds.
  • Design, deploy, operate and maintain our cloud platforms, middleware, systems and infrastructure.
  • Manage any vendor relationships associated with procurement, maintenance and deployment of the cloud infrastructure.
  • Automate! Infrastructure, software builds, testing, and deployments.
  • Stay up-to-date with the technology and provide thoughts on the evolution/revolution of our technologies and product offerings to ensure we remain relevant in the Next Generation network, storage, computing and infrastructure technologies
  • Write scripts to facilitate and automate day to day activities.
  • Review daily system logs and service performance reports and take corrective actions where needed
  • Support Engineering, IT, DevOps, and NEXTGEN teams in deploying, monitoring, operating, and integrating services on the private cloud
  • Perform design, testing and integration for new technologies, applications, tools, and business ideas
  • Participate in an on-call rotation
  • Work closely with developers and provide support in deploying, testing and integrating the new applications.

Education, Skills & Experience
  • 5 years hands-on Experience with Kubernetes
  • 3 years of hands-on experience in DevOps engineering
  • 3 years of hands-on configuration management: salt, salt-cloud (or related: puppet/chef/ansible)
  • 3 years of hands-on experience in multi-server platforms and Linux operating system
  • Professional level Hands-on experience in Docker Containers
  • Strong coding and scripting skills
  • Experience with running and maintaining a Jenkins Environment
  • Hands-on experience in managing production environments on SoftLayer and AWS
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with:
    • Kubernetes and designing architectures of large-scale Kubernetes cluster.
    • Virtualization environments ( VMWare)
    • Docker Containers
    • Python Programing
    • RabbitMQ open source messaging broker
    • HTTP RESTful APIs
    • Web server related protocols
    • Linux programming, tuning, and administration
    • IP network configuration and troubleshooting, including firewall protection
