The Application Architect (AA) will be a proactive, self-starter with strong experience and knowledge in designing & developing products. The AA is responsible for providing the leadership and direction in architecting , re-architecting the products aligned with business priorities. The role requires both broad and deep technology knowledge and the ability to architect solutions by mapping common customer business problems to reusable end-to-end technology solutions. To be effective, the Application Architect must have experience on multiple hardware and software environments and be comfortable with complex heterogeneous systems. The Application Architect (Health Learning, Research & Practice) will be capable of assessing existing product architecture, limitations and develop a targeted architecture with respect to the product roadmap. Create transition plan to migrate the product from as-is to to-be architecture. The Application Architect is also responsible for the governance and the architecture compliance during the development cycle. When building the new products, Application Architect works with business stakeholders and product managers to understand the vision & the requirements, works with the Enterprise Architects, Cloud Architects. AA needs to design and create the development and customer facing software environments. The Application Architect needs to be an avid promoter of the standards, utilize best practices, and mentor development teams on a regular basis. The Application Architect should be able to proactively identify the potential issues suggest the improvements.

Essential duties and responsbilities:
  • Design and implement highly scalable & highly available products on AWS.

  • Redesign / Re-Architect products using the modern architecture.
  • Create reusable architectural artifacts.
  • Estimate the effort & cost needed to build new products.
  • Create proof of concepts.
  • In complex initiatives, act as the lead to coordinate the activities of different architects to arrive at the overall architecture solution.
  • Provide guidance and leadership & encourage best practices.
  • Participate in reviews of the project solution architecture by identifying opportunities and recommendations to optimize
  • or enhance product delivery.
  • Help the Enterprise Architecture group in defining & Governing the standards.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by management.

  • Experience: 7-10+ years of overall IT experience.
  • 3+ years of experience designing, implementing the highly scalable, high available web based applications
  • Strongly preferred, and important - hands on experience in development, for web based applications for the cloud, and on AWS.
  • Proven track record of working with customers to understand their needs and translate into technical solutions.
  • Experience in analyzing, re-architecting the legacy applications.
  • Experience in building the web based products in PHP
  • Experience with frameworks such as Silex, Symfony and/or doctrine.
  • Good understanding of UI frameworks such as one or more of the following: JQuery; Angular JS; Bootstrap; Ember JS.
  • Expert understanding of Object Oriented Programming and SOA architecture.
  • Experience with data model design with RDBMS & NOSQL databases, middleware caching.
  • Extensive experience in using various cloud components (one or more of the following): Load Balancers; EC2; Lambda; Route 53; SQS; S3 .
  • Provide consultation and support to project teams throughout the project delivery cycle.
  • Must be able to develop proof of concepts.
  • Mentor junior and offshore engineering teams.
  • Experience with configuration automation using one or more of the following: Chef or Ansible, etc.. This is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of container orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) a plus
