My top tier client in Herndon is hiring a Software Engineer for a 1+ year contract! My client is looking for coders to build the foundation of their big data analytics pipeline. The ideal candidate will have extensive AWS experience and be capable of directing a team on AWS practices. Experience converting/migrating a legacy system to AWS (or knowledge of doing so) is a huge plus!

Responsibilities:
You will be solving deep technical problems and building innovative solutions in a fast paced environment working with smart and passionate SDE's. You should be experienced and comfortable building for the cloud – designing for five 9s, globally distributed all-active deployments, horizontal scalability, fault tolerance, and more.  You should be comfortable learning, evaluating, and deploying new technologies.  Our services are deployed in an Amazon Web Services environment, and so you will working hands on with many AWS components.  You thrive in true-agile, highly paced, production facing environment.  You are familiar with Microservices, APIs, Web UI, and DBs to assist us in migrating portals and related APIs. You may be involved in all the aspects from research, design, specs, coding, and bug fixing. Our team's focus is on writing solid code and getting high quality products and services to market as quick as possible. Skills: Analyzing Information , General Programming Skills, Software Design/Debug/Test 6 - 9 YOE

Requirements:
  • Converting/migrating legacy systems to AWS
  • Instruct and direct team of 5 developers on AWS ex: "Here's how you would do this properly in AWS "
  • Doesn't need prior migration experience, but would be helpful or at least knowledge of it
  • Experience with Microservices, SQL, and Java (converting Java to AWS)
  • Enterprise / mid size background ideal
  • Must be US Citizen or Greencard holder
  • In depth knowledge of and experience with AWS services at scale including Kinesis, EMR, Athena, SQS, DynamoDB, EC2 auto scaling groups, and IAM
  • 7+ years of professional related Java/J2EE experience and object
  • Experience with Java Multi-threading involving fault tolerant highly scalable systems
  • Experience with Spring, Hibernate, messaging, Java EcoSystem Successfully developed for large scale distributed systems and reliable, fault tolerant software.
  • Understanding of and practical experience with the principles of designing and building production quality services and APIs.
  • Knowledge of various SQL and NoSQL databases such MS SQL, DynamoDB, RDS, and Aurora Well versed in cloud orchestration using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies
  • Experience in the design/build/maintenance/refactor of large scale low latency high performance systems Ability to quickly learn and develop expertise in highly complex existing applications and architectures Strong  troubleshooting and debugging skills, particularly in both production and non-production networks.
  • Agile methodologies, TDD, Code review, documentation best practices Strong secure coding skills Jenkins and other build pipeline tools a plus

  •  Exceptional ability and motivation to solve problems and learn fast
  •  Must be able to perform at a high level within a technical team
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
