Job Spec:
Responsible for the management, support and operations of the enterprise data and voice network. Has an in depth knowledge of Cisco Network products; routers and switches. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Support the Roseland Network Infrastructure; Datacenter and PBX Room cabling (copper/fiber), Network devices, circuits…
  • Not responsible for IDF work.
  • Daily review and update of an online Network Inventory database.  All network changes are documented in the database.  This may involve logging into devices to gather inventory details.
  • Ensure network devices are covered by our maintenance contracts.
  • Schedule IOS Upgrades and Network device reboots.   Open Remedy Change tickets.  This involves 2 weekly planning meetings, calls with Relationship managers and remote office (branch) contacts.
  • Heavy use of MS Office, especially Excel and Access.
  • Develop or update online processes and Technical Documentation when necessary.
  • Develop and Maintain toolsets for OCC; handheld devices, protocol analyzers, Tivoli,  Apcon switches
  • Work to create automation to existing processes
  • Develop enhanced network monitoring using Tivoli/Netview
  • 24x7 Roseland support
  • Backup Support of Newark team.
  • Backup support of voice team, programming phones, etc..
  • Remote office support; may be required to make road trips…NJ, NY, PA, CT offices.
 
Requirements: 
  • 5+ years of experience in data network technologies.  Voice telephony experience a plus.
  • A basic understanding of networking; routing and switching technologies.
  • Ability to log on to Cisco Network devices and issue basic commands; inventory, review configs, logs…
  • Significant technical knowledge and experience with hands on troubleshooting
  • Fundamental analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills are required
  • Good organizational and follow up skills are a must
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to multi task in a sometimes hectic environment
  • Remedy or Service Now to open change or trouble tickets?
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel, Visio, and Lotus Notes.
  • Exposure to MS Access or similar database applications, Oracle, Splunk…
  • Experience with MS Access or similar database applications a plus.
  • Familiar with Outlook and Skype for Business
  • Any programming languages a plus
  • Exposure/understanding of SNMP and MIBs, ITNM/Tivoli monitoring
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Schedule, coordinate and Implement network changes initiated by Engineering area through Remedy Project or Change tickets, emails, or PIRs
  • Schedule and coordinate all circuit installations and relocations in Ros1 and Newark Campus locations with circuit vendors and Network Engineering
  • Using Cisco CUCM a plus
  • Using Avaya CM a plus
  • This is a 5 day position, based in Roseland with backup support of Newark Campus. Overtime required on for on-call, off-hour rotational support of Newark.
