Financial Analyst to join our lean and dynamic Financial Planning & Analysis team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis roles with increasing responsibilities and enjoy working cross-departmentally (as well as cross-culturally) to ensure efficient financial reporting, budget management and effective use and allocation of revenue resources.

What will you be doing?

This person will be responsible for proposal budgeting, financial monitoring and reporting of grants and unrestricted funds. As we're upgrading our systems, this person will also play a vital role in helping us use Bi360 and Intacct to their full capabilities. This person will also be responsible for facilitating that expenditures are performed in compliance with donor financial requirements via the production of analysis and reports. More specifically:

Financial Reporting & Monitoring
  • Responsible for producing monthly internal financial activity-based reports using excel reporting templates and preparing monthly program financial analysis.
  • Set up and maintain monthly internal financial reports of grants and unrestricted in BI360 reporting tool for Country Offices and Headquarters departments.
  • Analyze and monitor the financial status of assigned grants, contracts and other agreements in comparison to donor budgets/reporting requirements and identify and report any need for re-alignment or any financial risks associated with grants, contracts, and related cost share obligations for review with GPU.
  • Provide financial reports to donor managers and-or budget owners to facilitate that grant expenditures are in accordance with applicable donor regulations such as the USG (OMB Circular A-122 and A-133 guidelines, FASB, etc), United Nations, European Union, bilateral donor such as UK DFID, Global Fund, private foundations, etc.
  • Produce timely and accurate required financial donor reports in compliance with donor financial requirements.
  • Work with accounting on actual to budget reconciliations for grant data during monthly close process.
  • Create and-or analyze assigned and-or specific financial issues during the year, including ad-hoc analysis, modeling and forecasting.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.

Grant Budgeting and Budget Management
  • Work with Country Office and Business Development Unit to develop standard proposal budget templates by country based on program design provided by Global Program Unit.
  • Provide direct support on budgeting to country offices and HQ programs. Coordinate with HQ budget owners and Country finance managers to enable annual budgets are in line with funding sources requirements as applicable.
  • Work with the Global Program Unit and Country Finance Managers on the consolidation of our client's annual budgets for each country. Manage all changes of the budgets and maintain the latest versions of budgets in BI360 Reporting tool.

System Maintenance and Policies and Procedures
  • Responsible for maintaining all schedules, budget data and other relevant data in BI360 reporting tool such as payroll information, exchange rates, donor budgets, fiscal year budgets, etc.
  • Develop and update manual for users in BI360 reporting tool.
  • Update and-or develop all FP&A policies and procedures.

What skills will you need?

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of relevant experience, ideally in the nonprofit sector, with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. Advanced excel skills are the biggest priority for this role, with financial systems integration preferred. More specifically, we're also looking for:
  • Strong experience with U.S. government funding (e.g., USAID, NIH) and other donors' budget and regulatory compliance.
  • Previous international development experience preferred, experience working effectively in multicultural settings required.
  • Knowledge of BI360 reporting tool and Intacct, preferred.
  • Effective communication skills to guide program staff in the budget monitoring process. Demonstrated ability to work closely with colleagues in the development of budgets and financial reports for various types of funding sources.
  • Ability to handle a heavy workload with competing priorities while working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills; accuracy and attention to detail; and highly organized, strong writing skills.
