The Systems Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of engineers which administer and maintain high-performance UNIX and Windows development, non-production, and production environments. This individual should be very hands on and must possess a strong track record of leading a team of engineers both technically and professionally.

Job Duties:
  • Directly supervise a team of Systems Engineers in a mixed Windows and UNIX environment
  • Assist in the design, planning and implementation of server solutions
  • Respond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environment.
  • Provide technical escalation both during and after business hours
  • Tune systems for maximum available performance
  • Evaluate, test, and integrate new operating system versions, drivers, and patches
  • Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions
  • Support and coordinate with developers, operations, release engineers, and end-users
  • Educate and mentor team members and operations staff
  • Oversee complex projects, track progress/status, achieve timelines consistently
  • Continue to promote and professional standards inside and outside of the team
Job Requirements:
  • Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience with the Linux Operating System (RedHat variants preferred)
  • Strong experience leading and mentoring junior and senior Systems Engineers
  • Understanding and experience with low-latency, high-performance Linux environments
  • Build automation and configuration management
  • Horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and high availability
  • Advanced Linux administration and engineering
  • Advanced Linux kernel and network tuning
  • Advanced scripting (any combination of Perl, Ruby, Bourne, Python, and others)
  • Automation tools
  • Proficiency in Solaris
  • Top-tier analytics and problem solving
  • Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment
  • Project Management, organization, and time management
  • Customer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experience
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and business resources
