Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer is responsible for configuring and maintaining servers, networks and other infrastructure components within the environment. This is accomplished through the proactive monitoring of the server hardware and operating systems and installation of patches, service packs and other upgrades to ensure high level system availability. The Systems Engineer will also be responsible for engineering enterprise solutions to meet business goals and objectives and for managing infrastructure projects and providing the appropriate level of documentation to meet Project Office and regulatory requirements.

Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working with Information technologies
  • Minimum 5 years working with TCP/IP, and WAN technologies required.
  • Minimum 5 years working with Cisco, Client or other networking technologies
  • Minimum 5 years working in Microsoft Windows Server Environments
  • Minimum 5 years working in VMWare Environments
  • Minimum 3 years working with either LANDesk, SSCM, BigFix, Kace or another Endpoint Management Suite. Experience to include:
    • Software packaging
    • Software deployment
    • Patch Management
    • Developing Reports
    • Systems Monitoring
Skills And Knowledge
  • Create viable solutions that allow business units to meet company goals and objectives.
  • Proficient with TCP/IP, DNS, LAN/WAN/Wireless infrastructures, VPN, BGP, IDS/IPS, Radius/LDAP, SAN, iSCSI
  • Maintains contact with vendors, industry peers, and professional organizations to keep informed of existing and evolving industry standards and technologies
  • Proficient in managing equipment (switches, servers, firewalls) from multiple vendors (Dell, Client, Cisco)
  • Experience with Windows Server, DNS, Active Directory, DHCP, Exchange Online (O365), Virtual Machines, Cloud Solutions, Backup Technologies, Mobile Devices, SQL Server 2008+, Group Policy
  • Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Batch, VBS, Python)
  • Troubleshooting the Shoretel premise IP phone system, VOIP (SIP, SHORETEL), PRI and other digital and analog telephone trunking technologies including working with networking switches from various manufactures'.
  • Level 3 support
  • Install software patches, firmware upgrades
  • Maintain all associated network/systems documentation
  • Track incidents and document work though escalation process
  • Respond to alerts while on-call, after hours.
  • Rebuild servers using defined server standards
  • Ability to perform advanced OS troubleshooting in Windows environment
  • Understanding of project management methodologies and procedures
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Work in a team environment on task driven work
  • Intermediate understanding of back-up hardware/ software and architecture
  • Represents the basic qualifications for the position.
