POSITION SUMMARY:
As the Senior Big Data Engineer at our client, you'll be in a high-impact role, leading architecture and solution development for their Big Data platform. This individual will deal with complex, interrelated applications and systems being designed for today's big data platforms, and will work with rapidly evolving technologies to analyze and create unique solutions. Working closely with an internal team of highly skilled technical resources and external partners, this individual will assist in expanding, deploying and leveraging our client's Big Data platform. The Sr. Big Data Engineer will be responsible for managing the full life-cycle of a Big Data solution and for rapidly designing solution architectures based on diverse use cases. You will be building and maintaining next generation of Big Data / IoT solutions, associated applications, and data services. This is a critical role as you will have the opportunity to build and maintain IoT solutions using varied technologies, cloud services, and platforms, including the AWS. In this role, you will be working closely with data engineers, architects, and products development team.

This exciting NEW position is located at our corporate offices 7 miles South of Reading, PA. Our location is convenient commute with ample free and easy parking.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provide thought leadership and drive architecture and the design of Big Data Analytics solutions and will demonstrate the understanding of concepts, best practices and functions to implement a Big Data solution in an enterprise environment.
-Design and implement scalable Big Data architecture solutions for various application needs. This includes conceptualization, documentation of use cases, platform selection, design of the information architecture, application design and development, testing, and deployment of the proposed solution.
-Analyze multiple sources of structured and unstructured data to propose and design data architecture solutions for scalability, high availability and fault tolerance.
-Develop conceptual, logical and physical design for various data types and large volumes.
-Clearly articulate the pros and cons of various technologies and platforms.
-Implement some or all of the Big Data systems in distributed cloud environments.
-Implement security, encryption best practices for Big Data environments.
-Architect, design and implement high performance large volume data integration processes, database, storage, and other back-end services.
-Work closely with internal customers, vendors and partners at a technical and user level, to design and produce solutions.
-Set architectural vision and roadmap around the Big Data platform and technologies.
-Other projects as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:
-8 years of experience as a technology leader designing and developing data architecture solutions with more than
-2 years specializing in big data architecture or data analytics.
-2 years of experience in building and implementing an architecture roadmap for next generation enterprise data and analytics solutions
-2 years of experience in designing and developing high-volume mission critical data integration solutions.
-2 years of experience in building and deploying solutions to big data problems with various technologies.
-2 years of hands-on technical experience in working with big data architectures, including Hadoop, Map/Reduce, Pig, Hive or other big data frameworks.
-Strong Business Intelligence, Data warehouse, ETL and data modelling experience.
-Firm understanding of programming languages like Java, Python.
-Experience with implementing big data solutions in the cloud. Experience with one of the large cloud-computing infrastructure solutions like Amazon Web Services or
Elastic MapReduce.
-Experience supporting Spring Framework and RESTful API hooks
-Experience with Cloud Security implementation including AD integration
-Broad understanding and experience of real-time analytics, NOSQL technologies(e.g. Hbase, Cassandra, MongoDB), data modelling, data management, and analytical tools (e.g. SAS, R ).
-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering required, higher degrees preferred.
-Fluency / expertise in the following are required:
-Pivotal Big Data Suite : Greenplum, Gemfire, Spring XD and Rabbit MQ
-Environments: Amazon Web Services, Cloud Foundry and vCloud Air
-Big Data Technologies Hadoop, Kafka, ZooKeeper, Hbase, Hive etc
-Shell programming
-Experience with at least one configuration management and storage management tool
-System and application monitoring
-Fluency / expertise in the following are preferred:
-Languages: Python, Ruby, and shell scripts
-Middleware Platforms: ESB, API Management, WebSphere and Google Search Appliance
-Methodologies: Agile Project Management, Test Driven Development and Paired Programming
-Tools: Git, Maven, Continuous Integration, SVN, Ant, Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA and JIRA
-Architectures/Frameworks: Angular JS, Bootstrap, jQuery, jQuery Mobile, Reactive Web Design, Micro- Service Architecture, RESTful Web Services, JUnit, Swagger, OAuth, Single Sign On, SAML, Spring Framework
-Played pivotal roles as an engineer and architect across domains.
-Ability to lead initiatives and people toward common goals.
-Can work with minimal supervision and is a self-starter.
-Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills.
-Must be a team player with Team First attitude. Must be willing and able to contribute to brainstorming sessions in a meaningful way.
