Manufacturing Engineer

Role:
  • Plans, coordinates and performs manufacturing engineering work for a project or process of limited scope. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to support personnel, including contractors.
  • Work plans and decisions are typically made within the established guidelines and reviewed by others.
Responsibilities:
  • Provides support and basic trouble shooting for current operations. Investigates, gathers and analyze data for specifically assigned, recurring tasks.
  • Establishes routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations and/or new parts or programs of limited scope.
  • Identifies and implements cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas of limited scope.
  • Works with electronic tools to perform engineering functions.
  • Develops and implements plans of limited scope to support lean manufacturing through the client Production System.
  • Designs operations layouts to improve material flow and material presentation.
  • Participates in team studies related to capacity, energy, productivity and efficiency.
  • Implements new manufacturing processes and technology.
  • Modifies existing performance pay plans; assists in development of baseline data for new wage performance pay plans.
Requirements:
  • 4 year degree in engineering, technology, welding or equivalent work experience. AutoCAD, line design, project management required.
  • Must be able to support weld and/or assembly layout changes, weld robot programming and program touch-ups.
  • Align department to 5S standards.
  • Coordinate with facilities and execute project tasks with shop floor alignment.
  • Able to communicate and interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Support continuous improvement projects across department. Support department team for ongoing Safety, Quality and Efficiency goals. More than 50% time spent on shop floor.
  • PPE Required. Must be able to support production start and stop times.
  • Possible 3rd shift support.
