We have an immediate requirement for an EE Component Design and Release Engineer with our client in Auburn Hills, MI.

Job Description:


The EE Component Design and Release Engineer is responsible for EE component design, development, packaging, testing, calibration, and releasing. The Engineer will interface with systems group to define vehicle level functional specifications. The candidate will also: Develop component level specifications; participate in Product Assurance Planning (Program Management); manage the supplier of the components; and component DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis), DVRR (Design Validation and Reliability Report), and Timing Proactive Quality Plan. The candidate will participate in Reactive Quality Problem Solving and will be supporting Supplier Quality during Process Sign-off (PS) and PFMEA reviews (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis). In addition, the Engineer will be releasing components via Change Management System (CN's) and will interface with EMEA, APAC and LATAM counterparts on global commonality. Some travel to Mexico (supplier plant), EMEA, APAC, LATAM and assembly plants.

Amplifier Design & Release Engineer

Overview:

The Amplifier design and release engineer is a member of the NAFTA core audio team. The NAFTA core audio team ensures that all current and future vehicles in NAFTA have the appropriate "bookshelf” of amplifiers, Speakers, and ANC modules. She/He will also interface with Core Audio, platform teams, product planning, assembly plants, suppliers, and quality, and has ultimate responsibility from development through end-of-life of her/his components.
  • Create and Review DFMEA and resolve any high RPN issues.
  • Specify Design Verification (DV) and Production Validation (PV) test sequences for the module designs. Evaluate and approve DV and PV test results.
  • Lead ongoing meetings with module suppliers to ensure all ED, DV, and PV testing for new or modified modules are proceeding according to required timing. Follow all DV and PV test failures through to PCA (Permanent Corrective Action). Resolve timing conflicts and relay any changes in timing or additional risk to appropriate team members.
  • Lead changes on production module through PPAP.
  • Specify test plans for any subcomponent changes arising from supply or environmental issues affecting production module (Forever Requirements).
  • Acoustically evaluate warranty returns for Vehicles. Partner with suppliers to determine root cause, Containment Actions (CAs), and PCAs. Continuously monitor CAs and PCAs to ensure clean point is not broken.
  • Track all components/module suppliers' quality record. Coordinate with vehicle integration engineers any anomalies that may be specific to a particular vehicle.
  • Ensure lessons learned from testing and field failures have been applied to any new module designs and across all speaker suppliers.
  • Support sound vehicle integration engineers to determine best core modules to use in new or refreshed vehicles.
  • Support standardization of NAFTA/EMEA/LATAM/APAC modules as required.
  • Support platform teams requests for changes to speakers in order to meet their unique package size, performance, weight, or cost constraints.
  • Support supplier quality engineer with tasks related to speaker PPAP.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (NOT Technology) from an ABET Accredited school
  • Program Management skillset a MUST
  • More than 1 year of experience with PM skillset.
  • General knowledge of amplifier design.
  • Previous automotive releasing experience is a plus.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt / Blackbelt certification a plus.
  • NX / Teamcenter training a plus.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university. Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R). Self-motivated with excellent program management, communication skills. Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Preferred Qualifications (in addition to the basic qualifications above): Experience in analog/digital audio or telematics hardware/software implementation.; Master’s degree in engineering or Business Administration. Knowledge of vehicle serial data communications (CAN, LIN). Minimum 1 year of automotive system or component experience
Travel and Driving Requirements:

Will be required to drive a company car. Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record. Will be required to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%

BSEE, BSME or equivalent from an ABET accredited university.
