Description:
Client Patent Paralegal - Position Description (Plano, Texas)

Client the U.S. Research & Development subsidiary of Client desires to fill a Patent Paralegal position in Plano, Texas. Responsibilities for the Patent Paralegal position include:
  • Support of patent review boards (managing disclosure and patent filings for review, tracking of filing deadlines, entry of results into Client's patent database, meeting scheduling and logistics
  • Collaboration with paralegal personnel in Santa Clara, CA in support of IP Law Dept. personnel located in Plano and Santa Clara
  • Working with patent paralegal personnel overseas in support of Client cases entering U.S. prosecution
  • Interface with outside counsel handling Client patent matters
  • Generation of docket and other reports from Client patent database, data entry, managing tasks in the Client patent database
  • Preparation and Electronic filing of documents at U.S. Patent & Trademark Office


Requirements
  • AA/Bachelors, Paralegal Certification desirable, but not mandatory
  • Minimum 1 year experience assisting with patent applications for a corporate patent law department or private law firm and/or at least 2 years general office administrative experience
  • Familiarity with U.S. Patent & Trademark Office practice and procedures, including electronic filing of documents desirable, but not required.
  • Familiarity with MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint
  • Prior experience working with patent databases (data entry; report generation); familiarity with Anaqua desirable, but not mandatory
  • Attention to detail / Drive to succeed / Conscientious
  • Interest, and ability to work, in multi-cultural, team-oriented environment
  • Limited domestic and international travel
  • Possess excellent oral and written communications skills, fluency in Chinese desirable, but not mandatory
